These Sugar Free Coke Bottles came to me after making the Sugar Free Gummy Bears and Snakes. When I was a kid I was never a big fan of gummy type lollies but I really loved the coke bottles, especially the sour ones. When my brother and I would be allowed to get a bag of pick and mix from a shop, my brother would get a bag filled with a bit of everything and I would get a bag filled with nothing but coke bottles!
I wondered if it would be possible to work out some way of making those and then when I saw cola flavoured stevia drops, it was like a sign that I had to try! These Sugar Free Coke Bottles use gelatine powder, the cola flavoured stevia drops and natural food colouring. I’m trying to work on a sour version too!
These Sugar Free Coke Bottles are so easy to make, my son actually helped me make these and had lots of fun filling the moulds with the pipette. It turned out to be a great little activity that I’m sure lots of kids would enjoy doing. And of course, when the coke bottles are done you get to have the pleasure of seeing your kids enjoying a treat that is sugar free with no artificial sweeteners or colourings!
Sugar Free Coke Bottles
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup boiling water
- ½ cup cold water
- 25 g gelatine powder
- 12 drops Cola flavoured liquid stevia, to taste
- 9 drops natural yellow food colouring
- 3 drops natural purple food colouring
- Silicone bottle moulds
- Pipette
Instructions
- Place boiling water in a small jug or similar. Carefully sprinkle in gelatine powder while whisking constantly. Dissolve gelatine as much as possible. If there is still a bits of gelatine floating around or undissolved, microwave for 30 seconds and whisk again. Add cold water and whisk to combine.
- Add stevia drops and whisk. Add yellow food colouring and purple food colouring. Whisk and you will get a very light brown cola colour. If you like you can add more colour drops if you want it darker.
- Place moulds on a baking tray so they lie flat. Using pipette, carefully fill moulds. Carefully pop any large air bubbles floating on the surface of the bottles with the end of the pipette. If any liquid has spilt out around the bottles, use a piece of paper towel and just gently touch the towel to them to soak the liquid up.
- Place tray with moulds lying flat in the fridge. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until set. Remove from fridge and gently pop out the coke bottles from the moulds.
